General info

There are a few things to bear in mind when handling solid, naturally treated wood:

  • Prevent sharp and pointed objects coming into contact with the surface.

  • Do not use harsh cleaning agents or detergents.

  • Ensure regular ventilation in damp rooms. Excessively dry air can also lead to the warping of solid wood parts.

  • Avoid exposure to hot water vapour - e.g. when opening the dishwasher.

  • The wood will warp if not placed or stored correctly or if placed in a damp or cold environment.

  • Wooden cutting boards are subject to heavy use. Therefore, deformation and cracking may occur in the course of use, for which no guarantee can be given.

Care for cutting boards

It is often enough to simply wipe your wooden cutting board with a damp cloth, without detergent, or to rinse it under running water. Care should be taken to ensure that the front and back are receive equal amounts of moisture so that no warping occurs when drying. Please never leave wooden cutting boards in standing water and do not clean them in the dishwasher!

Before working with strong-smelling or strongly coloured food, please rinse the wooden chopping board briefly with cold water. Rinse with cold water immediately after use.

Cleaning

Normal cleaning and care: a slightly damp cloth is sufficient. When there is more residue, you can wipe the surface with a damp cloth - but please do not use aggressive cleaning agents under any circumstances. If the surface is slightly marked, e.g. by water stains or similar, it can be sanded and treated.

Re-oiling

Oiled wooden surfaces must be re-treated regularly. An oiled surface wears over time due to mechanical and physical stress. To re-oil, apply wood oil to a cloth and rub it evenly over the surface in the direction of the wood fibres. After applying the oil, pull the cloth evenly over the oiled surface in the direction of the fibres to remove the excess. Leave the oil to work overnight and polish briefly the following day.
