Mediterranean bathroom

The word “Mediterranean” comes from the Latin for “centre of the earth” and refers to Spanish, Italian and Greek architecture. A connection with nature is another important aspect of Mediterranean bathroom design. Choose natural colours and materials similar to those you find in bathrooms on the Spanish islands or in Greece.

Curved shapes give Mediterranean bathrooms a sense of enduring elegance. In larger rooms, columns can complement the effect, together with simple and elegant looks for furniture and taps.

Your colour scheme will differ depending on which Mediterranean style you select for your bathroom. For example, brilliant white and azure blue are typical of Greece, while Spanish bathrooms are often decorated in sand and beige shades. In general, earthy hues such as terracotta, sand or beige work well as the base colour. You can then add touches of bright red, blue, green or violet.

Mediterranean bathrooms are characterised by a natural, airy feel. Apart from their practical side, soft towels in bright colours and a light-coloured bath rug will create a relaxing atmosphere in the room.
